A phishing site impersonating Trezor occupied the top sponsored search result on Google on August 7, 2026, tricking users through a page hosted on Google Sites. Victims were prompted to enter their 12- or 24-word recovery phrases, allowing scammers to fully drain their crypto wallets. At least one user reportedly lost their entire life savings. Trezor confirmed awareness of the incident and is collaborating with Google to remove the fraudulent page. This scam fits a broader pattern: in May 2026, a similar scheme involving fake Uniswap sites reportedly cost users over $400,000.
