OPEC oil production recovers in July, Iran remains about a quarter below pre-war levels

A Reuters survey published in early August 2026 found that OPEC’s 11 remaining members pumped 19.85 million barrels per day in July, up 1.17 million bpd from June. This rebound represents a significant recovery from May 2026 lows, the weakest output since at least the year 2000. Iraq, Kuwait, and Libya drove the production gains, while Saudi Arabia saw a slight decline. Iran, however, remains roughly 25% below pre-war levels due to ongoing conflict and US restrictions on port activities connected to its oil shipments. The group now operates with 11 members following the UAE’s departure.
