On January 5, 2026, at CES, the GPU giant launched the Alpamayo family, reasoning vision-language-action models for Level 4 autonomous driving, described as the first open chain-of-thought reasoning models for autonomous vehicles. The Alpamayo 2 Super variant, released in August 2026, enables commercial use under an open-source license. Nvidia also introduced Earth-2 models for weather prediction and Ising, announced on April 14, 2026, as the world’s first open-source quantum AI model.
