During a conversation with Steve Witkoff, co-founder of the initiative, Carter found that Witkoff did not understand fundamental cryptocurrency and decentralized finance concepts. The $WLFI token began public trading on September 1, 2025, after private sales starting at $0.015 per token. The Trump family and affiliated entities receive 75% of net proceeds from token sales, which pushed their holdings’ valuation to approximately $5 billion at peak.
