NEAR AI launched a staking feature on July 30 allowing users to stake NEAR tokens to fund confidential AI workloads. Within roughly two weeks, over 500,000 NEAR tokens were staked. The mechanism generates approximately $5 in monthly AI compute credits for every 500 NEAR staked, with a clean 100:1 ratio between tokens staked and dollar-equivalent credits earned. The principal remains intact and fully recoverable at any time, with credits deducted from staking yields. A minimum of 50 NEAR is required to activate the autonomous agent IronClaw, which posted competitive results on PinchBench and OfficeQA benchmarks.
