Moody’s upgrades SK Hynix to A3+, completing a clean sweep of credit rating wins

Moody’s upgraded SK Hynix to A3+ with a stable outlook on August 3, 2026, making it the first company to secure upgrades from all three major rating agencies in a single year. S&P had moved first in February (BBB+), followed by Fitch in April (BBB+), before Moody’s surpassed both with its A3+ designation, stepping up from the prior Baa1 rating. This progression places SK Hynix firmly in upper-medium-grade territory, lowering its borrowing costs and widening the pool of eligible institutional investors with minimum rating mandates. All three agencies cited material improvement in credit metrics, driven by surging chip sales, particularly high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI workloads.
