Lila Ibrahim, chief AI readiness officer at Google DeepMind, revealed she started working at age 14 detasseling corn in Indiana for roughly one dollar an hour. The daughter of immigrants from Lebanon and Palestine, she climbed Intel’s ranks for two decades before overseeing 85,000 people as chief of staff. With no formal AI background, she became Google DeepMind’s first-ever chief operating officer in 2018, and was promoted this year to chief AI readiness officer.
