Lido advances Core Upgrade to mainnet after successful tests

Lido’s Core Upgrade has been officially approved by the DAO on or around July 23, 2026, clearing the Dual Governance mechanism with zero vetoes from any stakeholder. The upgrade bundles two major components: the Community Staking Module v3, which expands permissionless entry for node operators, and Curated Module v2, introducing bond-based security mechanisms where operators post collateral instead of relying on governance-managed reputation. Existing stETH holders do not need to take any action as the upgrade operates entirely at the protocol layer with no migration required. The protocol underwent extensive testnet testing and multiple independent security audits before the DAO vote. As the dominant player in Ethereum’s liquid staking landscape, Lido’s infrastructure improvements have downstream effects across a substantial portion of the DeFi ecosystem where stETH is widely integrated as collateral.
