FlightAware, an aviation data company owned by Collins Aerospace (a Raytheon subsidiary), filed a lawsuit against prediction market platform Kalshi on August 10, alleging unauthorized use of its flight data, trademarks, and branding. The company sought damages and a temporary restraining order, claiming Kalshi violated a data license agreement that explicitly prohibited commercial or gambling-related use. The dispute centered on Kalshi’s flight cancellation betting markets launched in early July 2026, which referenced FlightAware’s branding without permission. FlightAware voluntarily dismissed the case on August 12 without explanation and without prejudice, retaining the right to refile the same claims in the future.
