Jane Street’s $15B loss claim doesn’t square with the firm’s record-breaking quarter and fresh investment-grade rating

However, Fitch Ratings upgraded the firm to BBB- on July 24, 2026, which strongly contradicts the narrative of a catastrophic loss. Financial data shows Jane Street generated $16.1 billion in trading revenue in Q1 2026 with net income of approximately $10.3 billion, more than double year-over-year performance. In July 2025, India’s regulator SEBI banned Jane Street from trading in India and froze approximately $566 million as part of an investigation into alleged index price manipulation, representing only 3.7% of the claimed $15 billion loss.
