A hacker drained over $8 million from cryptocurrency platform Coinsbuy on August 9 across Tron and Ethereum networks. The attack began with a 5 USDT test transaction on Tron before transferring over $6 million in USDT from eight wallets, while $1.89 million in USDT and 77 ETH were also stolen on Ethereum. The attacker laundered 79% of the funds, or $6.34 million, through cryptocurrency exchange FixedFloat, along with 150 ETH via ChangeNOW. Coinsbuy refilled the compromised wallets hours after the hack, suggesting private keys were not compromised. The platform had not disclosed the attack vector used at the time of the analysis.
