Eutelsat and SES are set to collectively receive approximately $6.1 billion from the US Federal Communications Commission in exchange for clearing portions of C-band satellite spectrum. SES will receive about $5.6 billion while Eutelsat expects roughly $504 million. These payments fall under a new auction framework approved by the FCC for 160 MHz of upper C-band spectrum. Both operators must meet specific relocation deadlines set for 2030 and 2031 while maintaining service continuity, with transition costs reimbursed on top of the incentive payments.
