Elon Musk received $158.3 billion in compensation from Tesla in 2025, which is 2,522,203 times the median Tesla employee salary of $57,243 per year. According to the AFL-CIO analysis, his pay package represents the largest disparity among all S&P 500 CEOs, surpassing by 14 times the total compensation of all other S&P 500 CEOs combined. The labor federation describes this compensation as unprecedented in its executive pay monitoring history since 1997, stating that the U.S. economy is increasingly out of balance.
