DTCC, the core infrastructure behind nearly every US securities trade, conducted a live blockchain trading experiment on July 15 with tokenized securities. More than 30 firms participated, including JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Vanguard, Circle, Chainlink, and Fireblocks. Transactions covered Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs such as Invesco QQQ and SPDR S&P 500, as well as US Treasuries, all cleared and settled through Hyperledger Besu and Canton Network blockchain platforms. This test sets the stage for the commercial launch of the DTC Tokenization Service in October, which could reduce settlement cycles from T+1 to minutes, lowering counterparty risk and margin requirements. DTCC currently custodies 114 trillion dollars in assets, equivalent to the entire US securities market.
