DGFiP Hacked: 678,000 French Citizens Exposed, Another Target for Crypto Robbers

The Ministry of Economy confirmed on August 13 a fraudulent access to the DGFiP information system, with the extraction of tax data from 678,000 French individuals and professionals. The compromised data includes names, birth dates, addresses, family situations, tax reference income, and withholding rates. France remains the country most affected by wrench attacks, physical assaults targeting cryptocurrency holders, with approximately 33 out of 52 cases reported worldwide in the first half of the year, and over 30 million dollars stolen. This fiscal data enables criminals to easily identify wealthy targets. In February, the FICOBA bank file had already exposed 1.2 million accounts including bank details and tax numbers.
