Two top Democratic lawmakers, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Rep. Robert Garcia of California, have sent a 17-page letter to President Donald Trump demanding he reveal the money managers overseeing his investments and disclose his involvement in thousands of stock trades that have raised conflict-of-interest concerns. The lawmakers highlighted over 21,000 trades made in Trump’s name in 2025 alone, and more than 3,500 trades in the first quarter of 2026, or approximately 50 trades per day markets were open. They cited specific examples of purchases in Nvidia and AMD before the administration announced loosened export controls to China, and a purchase in Axon Enterprises before a $220 million Taser contract for ICE was announced. The Democrats asked Trump to respond by August 28 and indicated their work on potential legislation to ban presidents from owning individual stocks.
