Crypto Attacks: 212 Incidents and $1 Billion Lost in 6 Months

During the first half of this year, 212 exploitation incidents were recorded in the cryptocurrency sector, resulting in losses of $1.1 billion, representing 3.4 times more than in 2025. The four largest incidents (Kelp DAO, Drift, Resolv and CowSwap) alone account for $707 million, or 64% of the total. North Korea remains responsible for 55% of losses with a haul of $609 million, including attacks on Drift ($285 million) and Kelp DAO ($292 million). Approximately 74% of losses are linked to operational security failures, while nearly four out of five attacks exploit code vulnerabilities. The most targeted blockchains are Ethereum ($332 million), Solana ($326 million) and BNB Chain ($185 million).
