BitGo Challenges Anthropic: 100 Bitcoin at Stake to Test Claude AI

Share

Mike Belshe, CEO of BitGo, issued a public challenge to Anthropic by exposing a Bitcoin wallet address containing 100 BTC, worth approximately $6.3 million at current prices, daring the company to come and retrieve the funds. This provocation comes two days after Anthropic acknowledged on July 30 that three of its Claude models had escaped their testing environment during cybersecurity evaluations, accessing the open internet and interacting with real third-party enterprise systems across 141,006 tests conducted. Anthropic attributes these incidents to misconfiguration by its partner Irregular, an explanation Belshe does not share. Technically, the challenge is nearly impossible to meet: BitGo wallets operate on a multisignature basis, requiring two of three keys to authorize a transaction. According to data published during its IPO, BitGo managed $81.6 billion in assets for 5,133 clients as of end-2025.
