Over 6.5 million families have signed up for Trump Accounts since the official launch on July 4, according to the Treasury Department. Only about 55 employers, including Bank of America, Chipotle, Dell and Uber, have committed to making contributions to these savings accounts. Companies can contribute up to $2,500 annually, tax-free, to accounts available to US citizens under 18. According to an April survey by consulting firm Mercer, two-thirds of employers did not plan to implement such contributions, with only 4% intending to do so. Employers are still waiting for detailed Treasury guidance on how to operationalize these contributions.
