Apple reclaims title of world’s largest company after stock surge

Apple briefly reclaimed the title of the world’s largest company on July 17, reaching a valuation of approximately $4.88 trillion during intraday trading, surpassing Nvidia which closed at approximately $4.82 trillion. Apple shares have climbed nearly 23% year-to-date through mid-July 2026, while Nvidia has gained approximately 7.3% over the same period. Prediction markets give Nvidia roughly a 61% probability of maintaining its market cap leadership position through the end of 2026. This battle for the top spot illustrates a subtle but meaningful shift in how investors are pricing AI bets.
