Anthropic announced on April 7, 2026 the release of Claude Mythos Preview, a version capable of autonomously exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities across major operating systems and browsers. Due to this offensive potential, the company launched Project Glasswing, a defensive cybersecurity initiative accompanied by 100 million dollars in usage credits. On June 9, 2026, Anthropic released Claude Mythos 5, an enhanced version covering cybersecurity, biology, and healthcare sectors. On July 1, 2026, export controls on Mythos 5 were lifted for certain US organizations.
