All Eyes on July 28 as Zcash Rolls Out Security Upgrade

Share

Zcash is set to activate its Ironwood network upgrade on July 28 at block height 3,428,143, around 12:00 p.m. UTC. This update patches a critical counterfeiting vulnerability discovered in Zcash’s Orchard shielded pool by security researcher Taylor Hornby. Ironwood creates a new shielded pool using the corrected Orchard circuit and seals the original Orchard pool. Following the upgrade, funds can only exit the original pool through a turnstile mechanism that prevents more ZEC from leaving than legitimately entered. The upgrade aims to allow any user running a node to independently verify that Zcash’s supply limits are being enforced.
