ABFinance shuts down before going live – Why crypto’s bear market matters

ABFinance, a U.S.-compliant cryptocurrency trading platform, has announced the suspension of operations after only five months, without ever launching its core product publicly. Founded in March 2026 by Helen Liu, former co-CEO of Bybit, the platform abruptly ended its project to combine deposits, earnings, and spending under U.S. regulatory oversight. In July 2026, two other major exchanges, BitMart and BitMex, also announced their closures due to difficult market conditions and a challenging regulatory environment. According to Rootdata, over 100 projects closed in 2026, including exchanges, blockchains, and DeFi protocols. Cryptocurrency trading volume has dropped to $43 billion from over $150 billion previously.
