Berkshire pads Delta, Alphabet stakes as Abel taps cash pile

Berkshire Hathaway expanded its stakes in Delta Air Lines and Alphabet in Greg Abel’s second full quarter as CEO. The conglomerate added 17.5 million Delta shares worth $5.37 billion and 48.1 million Alphabet shares, making it the third-largest holding at $37.8 billion. Abel invested $10 billion in Alphabet to support its artificial intelligence projects and spent $6.8 billion to acquire homebuilder Taylor Morrison. Berkshire’s cash pile stood at $365.5 billion midyear, down from a record $397 billion at the end of March.
