Ireland has published its first National Anti-Money Laundering, Countering Financing of Terrorism and Countering Proliferation Financing Strategy, including stricter measures on transfers involving private crypto wallets and overseas digital asset companies. These reforms fall under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, with legislation described as well advanced. The Irish government plans to implement these industry standards by the second half of 2027. The strategy also addresses the acceptance of crypto-related activities as a source of funds for gambling.
