France Tax Data Leak Could Fuel Scams, Attacks Targeting Bitcoin Holders

A reported breach of France’s tax authority (DGFiP) exposed data tied to 678,437 people and businesses, including income figures, addresses, and tax identifiers. The database contains records on 26,805 high-income taxpayers and 386 individuals earning more than $1.16 million. Security experts warn of increased targeted scams and physical attacks, as cryptocurrency holders represent prime targets due to the instant and irreversible transferability of their assets. France recorded at least 30 attacks on cryptocurrency holders during the first half of the year, resulting in losses exceeding $30 million.
