French AI startup Mistral AI aims to deploy 1 gigawatt of computing capacity in Europe by 2030, up from 77 megawatts currently. This sovereign infrastructure, estimated at tens of billions of dollars, will be financed through a novel mechanism of multi-year commitments from European industrial players including ASML, Capgemini and CMA CGM. Mistral has already raised approximately 4 billion dollars and is seeking an additional 3 billion euros, targeting a valuation of nearly 20 billion euros. The company is also strengthening its partnership with Microsoft, which now rents computing power from its European data centers.
