DeepSeek, a leading Chinese AI lab, has announced the formation of a new « Harness Team » to develop AI agents competing with Anthropic’s Claude Code. The team began assembling in May 2026 and is actively hiring a Product Manager and R&D Engineer in Beijing for the « DeepSeek Code Harness » project. While the product is not yet in the shipping phase, the initiative aims to position DeepSeek alongside major market players such as OpenAI Codex and GitHub Copilot. This move reflects DeepSeek’s broader strategy to enhance its software orchestration capabilities beyond its existing foundation models, V3 and R1.
