Aston Villa’s loan offer for Joao Palhinha has been rejected by Bayern Munich, with the German club insisting on a permanent transfer only. The two clubs have been negotiating for nearly a month without reaching an agreement on the deal structure: Bayern is demanding around 30 million euros for the 31-year-old Portuguese defensive midfielder, while Aston Villa is trying to minimize upfront costs. The English club urgently needs midfield reinforcements following Amadou Onana’s long-term injury, and Palhinha, who is well known in the Premier League from his time at Fulham, fits the profile they are looking for. Bayern Munich signed Palhinha themselves for 51 million euros in July 2024 before loaning him to Tottenham last season, and now wants to close this chapter as quickly as possible. Newcastle United is also reportedly circling, which could force Villa to eventually meet Bayern’s terms.
