Centrifuge finalized Ethereum standard ERC-8161 in late July 2026, co-authored by Jeroen Offerijns and Cain O’Sullivan. The new standard makes pending deposit and redemption requests in multi-asset vaults transferable, opening secondary markets for tokenized real-world asset positions. Investors can now sell their place in the queue instead of waiting for epoch closure, gaining liquidity before final settlement. ERC-8161 builds on ERC-7540 for asynchronous claim flows and ERC-7575 for multi-asset support, solving the liquidity problem inherent in asynchronous systems that require investors to lock up capital during settlement periods.
