Is inflation really slowing? Fed rate hike hinges on July price report.

The U.S. Federal Reserve could raise interest rates as soon as next month if July inflation figures rise again. The consumer price index report, due out on Wednesday, will be critical to the monetary policy decision. A surprising decline in U.S. jobs last month was not enough to discourage the Fed from acting. If inflation remains tame for the second consecutive month, the Fed will hold rates steady.
