The BIP-110 soft fork proposal, led by Luke Dashjr, produced only two blocks before dying, with just 2.53 percent of the previous period’s blocks signaling support, far below the 55 percent activation threshold. Luke Dashjr was removed from his editor and administrator role on the Bitcoin Improvement Proposals repository on August 10, at the request of Mark Erhardt, who cited a conflict of interest in handling BIP-110 and insufficient editorial participation since April 2024. The official BIP Editors list now has only five members: Bryan Bishop, Jon Atack, Mark Erhardt, Olaoluwa Osuntokun and Ruben Somsen. Luke Dashjr also stepped back from his position as president and chief technical officer of the Ocean mining pool. The episode highlighted the lack of a formal revocation procedure for administrators of the proposal process, while the Bitcoin main chain remained unaffected.
