Riot Platforms, a U.S.-based Bitcoin miner headquartered in Texas, signed a 20-year infrastructure deal with Anthropic, the maker of the Claude AI model, worth an initial $9.1 billion. The contract covers 191 megawatts of computing capacity hosted at the Rockdale, Texas campus, with full deployment expected by June 2028. Two five-year extension options could bring the total value to approximately $16.1 billion. Riot shares surged 25% in after-hours trading following the announcement. Combined with a prior $19 billion deal with TeraWulf, Anthropic is securing several hundred megawatts and over $25 billion in total commitments for its future AI infrastructure.
