BlackRock, through its Global Infrastructure Partners unit, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with North America’s Building Trades Unions on August 10, 2026, to connect over 3 million skilled trades workers to AI data center and energy infrastructure projects. NABTU, which operates over 1,900 apprenticeship facilities across the US and Canada, represents the primary skilled workforce pool targeted by this partnership. This initiative follows BlackRock’s 40 billion dollar acquisition of Aligned Data Centers and the AI Infrastructure Partnership’s plan to raise 30 billion dollars in equity for AI infrastructure projects, potentially scaling to 100 billion dollars when including debt financing. BlackRock has also committed 100 million dollars through its Future Builders philanthropy program to train 50,000 Americans for skilled trades.
