Brex, a fintech company, abandoned its initial code-level governance approach for AI agents and developed CrabTrap, an open-source HTTP/HTTPS proxy that monitors network traffic. The tool uses a dual-layer architecture: cached static rules for known request patterns and an LLM judge for unusual requests. According to the company, fewer than 3% of agent requests require LLM evaluation. CrabTrap was released on April 21, 2026 and already has over 700 stars on GitHub. Pedro Franceschi, Brex’s co-founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of community feedback for the project’s development.
