World Liberty Financial received $100M from businessman under UK money laundering investigation

The largest publicly disclosed acquisition of WLFI governance tokens, totaling $100 million, came from an entity linked to Chinese businessman Guren « Bobby » Zhou, arrested in the UK in March 2021 on suspicion of money laundering. The investment, made on June 26 through the UAE-based Aqua1 Foundation, directed up to $75 million to entities controlled by the Trump family and affiliates of co-founder Zach Witkoff. Zhou also faces civil judgments in China totaling approximately $2.4 million for unpaid loans. British officials have confirmed the money laundering investigation remains active as of late July.
