A vessel operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with no crew members injured. In total, 15 ADNOC vessels have been hit by drones or missiles since the regional conflict began, resulting in one crew member killed and 20 others wounded. The Strait of Hormuz, roughly 21 miles wide at its narrowest point, carries about one-fifth of the world’s daily oil consumption. Freight rates have climbed as some shipowners reroute vessels around the southern tip of Africa, adding roughly two weeks to Europe-bound voyages. The UAE has publicly condemned the attacks and accused Iran of serious violations of international maritime law.
