Tether Now Holds 146 Tonnes of Gold: More Than a Central Bank

Tether has expanded its Hadron tokenization platform to Saudi Arabia, initially targeting institutional real estate before expanding to other asset classes. The company purchased 14 tonnes of gold in the second quarter, bringing its total reserves to over 146 tonnes, representing approximately $18.8 billion. Gold accounts for nearly 10% of Tether’s total reserves of $187.8 billion, which generated $1.5 billion in net operating profit during the period. This accumulation makes Tether the largest known private holder of gold in the world, outside of central banks and nations.
