Apple has launched a fresh legal challenge against a UK government attempt to access encrypted data held by British customers. This comes a year after a previous dispute when the Home Office requested access to both British and American customer data. That initial order was dropped following interventions from US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The Home Office renewed its demand in September requesting access to British citizens’ encrypted data, leading Apple to disable its Advanced Data Protection for new users in the UK.
