Multicoin Capital partners with Hyperliquid to back CFTC prediction market framework

Multicoin Capital and the Hyperliquid Policy Center submitted a joint comment letter to the CFTC on July 27 in support of the proposed regulatory framework for prediction markets. The two entities advocate for the CFTC to be the sole federal regulator of these contracts under the Commodity Exchange Act, rejecting fragmented state-level jurisdiction. The alliance also backs a settlement-based assessment approach, judging contracts by how they resolve and pay out rather than by their underlying topic. This positioning comes as combined monthly volumes on prediction markets exceed $50 billion, with $44.8 billion recorded in June 2026. Multicoin Capital, which holds over $40 million in HYPE tokens, is signaling a clear divergence between its institutional direction and the public reservations of its former co-founder Kyle Samani, who departed in February 2026.
