Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has denied any involvement in a recently launched cryptocurrency token named « Sanae Token ». The controversy centers on her chief public secretary, Tsuyoshi Kinoshita, who was in contact with operators linked to businessman Ken Matsui, reportedly behind the token. Kinoshita claimed he believed the term « token » referred to mobile app points rather than an actual cryptocurrency. Takaichi’s government generally supports Web3 and blockchain development in Japan, and the country could approve its first Bitcoin fund by 2028.
