South Korean blockchain gaming platform WEMIX is investigating a potential security breach involving the ownership of its WEMIX$ stablecoin contract. The investigation was disclosed on July 26, 2026. WEMIX$ is a USDC-backed stablecoin running on the WEMIX3.0 mainnet. The platform is still recovering from a February 2025 attack in which approximately 8.65 million WEMIX tokens worth roughly $6.1 to $6.2 million were drained from the Play Bridge Vault. That hack was attributed to compromised authentication keys linked to the NILE NFT monitoring system, with CEO Kim Seok-hwan forced to address allegations of downplaying the incident. This new potential breach involving contract ownership represents a different attack surface from the previous incident.
