Cryptocurrency exchange BitMart announced Saturday it will begin an orderly wind-down of its trading platform, with all trading halted on Aug. 26 and full operations ceasing on Jan. 31, 2027. The exchange’s native BMX token plummeted roughly 59% in 24 hours and nearly 79% over seven days, cutting its market capitalization to about $22.5 million. New registrations, deposits, and trading orders were suspended from Sunday at 01:30 UTC, while withdrawal services will remain available until final closure. Founded nine years ago, BitMart reported roughly $1.6 billion in 24-hour trading volume and suffered a $196 million hot-wallet breach in December 2021.
