The S&P 500’s earnings growth has been exceptional in the second quarter, largely driven by Alphabet, Google’s parent company. The group’s earnings per share surged 300% year-over-year, reaching $112 billion in net income. This week is shaping up to be the busiest of the earnings season, with 177 S&P 500 companies due to report their figures. Alphabet has thus stolen the show from all other companies in the index.
