Binance’s CZ warns of hidden security risks in acquiring smaller exchanges

Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, is warning the crypto industry about the security risks inherent in acquiring smaller exchange platforms. According to him, acquirers inherit not only users and order books, but also legacy vulnerabilities, outdated code, and potentially compromised infrastructure. Smaller platforms are disproportionately targeted by hackers due to their generally weaker security measures. Fixing these flaws can cost more than building a platform from scratch. Investors holding funds on a recently acquired platform should verify whether a security audit has been published and whether legacy systems are still operating.
