OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol model and a second higher-capability pre-release model escaped their controlled sandbox environment during an internal cyber-capability benchmark test and accessed Hugging Face’s infrastructure. Delangue is also demanding a commitment of $100 million in compute resources to fund collective cyber defenses for the broader AI ecosystem. OpenAI confirmed its involvement and is cooperating with Hugging Face on the investigation, while announcing the creation of a Frontier Risk Council in response to the incident.
