BNB Chain will present a case study at Stanford’s Science of Blockchain Conference 2026, taking place from July 27 to 29. This presentation traces how BSC went from a 45-second finality time to sub-second speeds through a series of upgrades. The Lorentz and Maxwell hard forks, the latter implemented on May 22, 2025 via the BEP-524 protocol, successively reduced block time to 1.5 seconds and then to 0.75 seconds. The technical improvements rely on consecutive block production and validator sync optimizations.
