SK Telecom, South Korea’s largest telecom operator, plans to build up to 15 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2035. The first phase targets 5 GW of capacity by 2029. The company has partnered with Nvidia to develop this infrastructure using the Nvidia DSX platform, establishing a dedicated subsidiary called SK Hyper. Initial investment stands at KRW 750 billion (approximately $506 million to $510 million) to be deployed by 2030. SK Telecom filed a 6-K report in June 2026 outlining the full 15 GW roadmap, with initial operations based in Ulsan and planned expansions into the Chungcheong and Honam regions. Financing for later phases remains preliminary, representing significant execution risk.
