Uber and Waymo end exclusivity deal in Atlanta and Austin, signaling shift in autonomous vehicle strategy

Uber and Waymo are ending their exclusivity agreement in Atlanta and Austin, which gave Uber sole rights to service Waymo’s robotaxis through its platform. The two companies launched their joint services in March 2025 in Austin and June 2025 in Atlanta, with approximately 100 Waymo vehicles operational in Austin by mid-2025, achieving a 4.9-star rating. Complete separation of the partnership is expected by Q1 2027, following the end of the Phoenix exclusivity agreement around June 2026.
