Cardano’s development company Input Output Group (IOG) has launched Pogun, a platform that mirrors Bitcoin onto its blockchain, enabling BTC holders to access DeFi services like lending, yield, and stablecoins while retaining custody of their keys. Approximately $1.6 trillion worth of Bitcoin currently sits idle in wallets. The non-margin credit market will launch on mainnet in Q2 2026, followed by a yield-generating application in Q3 2026 and a BitVM-powered mirroring implementation in Q4 2026. The project, led by Omer Husain, requires nearly $50 million in funding across nine proposals and competes directly with similar initiatives like Stacks and Babylon.
